Hawaii is a GOES 10 fire monitoring site. Additionally, the current eruption of Kilauea volcano is also visible, when unobscured by clouds, along the southeast coast of the Big Island, the largest and southern-most island in this group. Use caution when interpreting these images. The strong temperature difference between land, water and clouds may generate false hotspots along coastlines and cloud edges. Additionally, daytime solar reflection off of land, water or clouds may generate scattered false hotspots.
